Configuration
Defaults live in the UI. Environment variables are the fallback for a fresh install and for the backend process.
Settings
Settings replaces the chat rail: the section list takes the left pane, and the selected section fills the window. Sections cover connections, the agent, voice, computer use, notifications, the task router, loops, workspaces, defaults, skills, MCPs, plugins, appearance, the terminal, quick commands, capture, and keybindings.
Appearance is Light, Dark, or System. Dark is the default. System follows the computer, including a change while the app is open. The window, chat, and terminal share that palette.
Environment
A starting file ships as backend/.env.example. Values you save in Settings win over these for the next request.
