The workspace

Workspaces

One Brompter process, many repos. A workspace is a directory — local, or on a machine you already reach with SSH, WSL, or Docker.

Add a workspace

The switcher adds a local folder or a remote location. The folder browser walks both. Each workspace can store the URL of the app you are previewing. If that URL is empty, Brompter asks you to set one or to navigate.

Remote locations

Remotes use the tools already on the machine. There is no extra daemon to install.

KindForm
SSHssh://[user@]host[:port]/path or user@host:/path
WSLwsl://<distro>/path
Dockerdocker://<container>/path

SSH uses ~/.ssh/config and your agent. Brompter can list SSH hosts, WSL distros, and running containers. A terminal opened for that workspace starts in its directory, including over those transports.

A gallery across the top lists the workspaces open in this window. New chat, Term, Web, and File ask which workspace the pane belongs to when more than one is open. Closing a gallery card hides that workspace’s panes until you open it again. Switching back restores the chats, panes, and layout that workspace last used.
